These three elementary things are under social revision: Life, Truth, and Reality. Perhaps “revision” is an understatement. It is more like upheaval, and a rapidly increasing number of people are feeling the pain.

We live and move and have our  being in a culture of death. Truth is upended by falsehood. The only failsafe is reality, but even that is twisted into a pathological denial of what is real.

Let’ s start with what is real. I type the word “tree” into this document and no reader in his or her right mind would say that the word “tree” is the same thing as the tree itself. The word “tree” asks the reader to conceive of a plant that often grows very big over many years.

Reality is the actual tree that is growing out of actual soil. It has leaves or needles. In can be seen with the eyes and touched with the hands and smelled with the nose. When the wind blows against its leaves they create a distinct sound heard by our ears. We experience the reality of a tree by going outside and investigating it with our five senses. It is a very different experience than simply reading the word printed on a screen or on a piece of paper.

The tree is real. It exists. It can be measured in many different ways. It can be identified and distinguished from other things in the real world.

If reality somehow becomes garbled there is no way to get back to truth. Our senses are the only things that keep our perception of reality within the realm of sanity.
